Oasis

Oasis

Brit-pop is pretty much what it says on the box: Nineties UK pop-rock that emphasised a British sensibility and combined powerful rock sounds with a bunch of catchy singles. Oasis, formed by the Gallagher brothers in Manchester in 1991, were a dominant force in the movement (if that’s what it was), with their first two albums—Definitely Maybe and (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?—being cornerstones of Cool Britannia guitar rock. Although later albums were not quite the sales monsters of the first two, all have great moments. Mention should also be made of The Masterplan (1998), one of the best ever collections of B-sides and non-album singles ever released.
