Welcome back everyone. Our News Catch-up installments took a little break over the recent weeks, but we are back now, and as you probably already know: back in lock-down! Although masks are back on and our store front has temporarily closed, we are no less busy making sure that all of your online orders are processed. We have also been stocking our shelves with awesome new releases, as well as confirming which Record Store Day titles we will have for the big day itself. So let's get right to it!
First up is a new release which has just made its way into our store. Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era 1965 - 1968 is a double compilation album that was first released back in 1972. It contains 27 tracks from various psychedelic bands from the mid 60's, including The Electric Prunes, The Strangeloves, Count Five, Saggitarius, and (the appropriately named) The Magic Mushrooms. This brand new version has been cut from the original album master and features notes from Elektra founder Jac Holzman, as well as the original album compiler Lenny Kaye.
Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychededlic Era 1965 - 1968 is available to order HERE.
The 1st drop of Record Store Day is just over a week away, and as mentioned earlier, we are busy sorting through which titles will be available from us on the day. We can now confirm several titles. The first of which has been one of the most requested on wishlists: Donna Summer Bad Girls.
Originally released in 1979, Bad Girls became Donna Summer's most critically acclaimed and best-selling album, as well as being regarded as one of the best disco albums of all time. This new deluxe Record Store Day edition comes as a double album with one LP pressed on opaque red wax, and the other LP on opaque blue. Both discs are housed in a gatefold jacket which also includes an exclusive OBI strip.
Donna Summer Bad Girls will be available to order on Record Store Day, but in the meantime, keep an eye on the page HERE.
Another sought-after Record Store Day title is Iggy Pop Live At The Channel Boston. This is the first time that the live concert (recorded in July 1988) will be released in its full length and is available as a double LP with one disc on pink splatter wax and the other on yellow splatter. Housed in a gatefold jacket, the album contains an exclusive OBI strip, as well as printed sleeves with photos from the concert.
Iggy Pop Live At The Channel Boston will be available to purchase on Record Store Day HERE.
We are also happy to confirm that we will have copies of Miles Davis Sketches. This special release is pressed on blue vinyl and even includes a CD. Being a Miles Davis album should definitely be enough to make this a best-seller on the day, but to add incentive, this special release is limited to 500 copies worldwide! So be quick on the day and grab your copy of Miles Davis Sketches HERE.
Other titles that we can confirm for the first drop of Record Store Day are Hall & Oates Voices on transparent vinyl (HERE), Elvis Presley Elvis Sings The Mad Professor picture disc (HERE), Marilyn Monroe Incurably Romantic on red vinyl with CD (HERE); and Marc Bolan & T. Rex Star King featuring demos, rough mixes and a previously unreleased track (HERE).
Many more titles will be confirmed in the coming days and we will update our Titles In Hand page accordingly. Make sure you keep an eye on it HERE. We will also be confirming the details for how the day itself will be running in light of the recent lock-down news, so please check in on our website and social media to stay updated. Until then, look after yourselves and keep spinning records!
