News Catch-up 19 May 2022

Welcome back everyone. This News Catch-up is an absolute doozy (and I know we've said that a fair few times... but in our defence, there have been a fair few doozies as of late!). So without further ado, let us just say:

Prince and the Revolution Live in Syracuse 1983! Officially available for the first, the famed live Prince performance has been completely remixed from the original 2'' multitrack master reels and pressed on three 150gm vinyl LPs and packaged with a 16-page book detailing the Purple Rain tour.

It sounds like it can't get much better for Prince fans... well actually...

The Live in Syracuse 1983 release will also be available as a special Blu-Ray set. As well as including the newly-remixed audio across two CDs, this set will also contain a Blu-Ray with the original video of the performance - now rescanned, restored and colour-corrected; as well as the audio available in stereo, 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos. This set will also include a 24-page book.

Both versions are expected to arrive early June.

We'll keep things royal as we go from Prince to Queen. For the first time ever on vinyl: all three Queen Greatest Hits volumes will be collected in The Platinum Collection 6 LP box set. This limited edition set is pressed on coloured vinyl (green, pink, blue, yellow, red and purple) and is packaged in a slipcase with all new original artwork. Included, will also be a 24-page 12'' photo book.

From Bohemian Rhapsody to Radio Gaga; We Will Rock You to I Want To Break Free; Thank God It's Christmas to George Michael's Somebody To Love (recorded live at the Freddy Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness) - all three Greatest Hits albums have been beloved by fans for years (volume 2 being the 10th best-selling album in the UK). All three are finally collected and ready to drop in mid July.

Oh, and since we mentioned George Michael, it is probably also worth mentioning that his 1996 album Older is getting a vinyl re-release this July. Spawning six singles and going platinum six times in the UK (not to mention being verified platinum in no less than twenty-two countries), Older was once described by the late artist himself as his "greatest moment". Including the singles, Fastlove and Jesus to a Child, Older has been remastered from the original tapes and will be released on black vinyl, as well as an indie exclusive green vinyl edition.

July is certainly a spicy one, with bot Queen and George Michael dropping. But don't worry, because we have just as much spice in August when Madonna's Finally Enough Love #1's Remixed drops. This album contains sixteen remixes of classic Madonna tracks, curated by her and specially remixed for this release. As well as a standard black vinyl version, Finally Enough Love #1's Remixed will also be released on silver and red.

Well, that's all for now. But we will be back in less than a week to delve into the George Michael Older super deluxe box set. Oh yes...
