Hello once again everyone. As we have so much to get through for this month, we’ll keep it relatively short this week – but that’s not to say that the quality of the titles we’re spotlighting are inferior at all. Oh no, far from it! For example:
The Boss himself is back later this month. With his first album since 2012, Letter To You is dropping onto the racks at the end of October to prove once again why Bruce Springsteen is… well… The Boss. Reunited with the E Street Band for the first time since 2016’s The River Tour, Springsteen recorded all 12 tracks off the new record at his home studio in New Jersey.
“I love the emotional nature of Letter To You,” says Springsteen in the press release for the album. “And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs. We made the album in only five days, and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had.”
The album was produced by Springsteen himself along with Ron Aniello, mixed by Bob Clearmountain and mastered by Bob Ludwig. The vinyl edition will be released on 2 140gm LPs with an etched D-side, along with 16-page booklet, all housed within a gatefold jacket. Oh, and the best part? It’s available to pre-order here!
October is definitely a good month for Springsteen fans, but let us not forget the true nature of this month: Halloween and the subsequent scaring the living daylights out of ourselves. So, to celebrate the spooky season, the good folks at Universal are gifting us Frank Zappa Halloween ’81: Live from the Palladium, New York City. A 6 CD and costume box set containing78 previously unreleased tracks taken from live shows from October 31stand November 1st, 1981. Spread over 6 CDs, all tracks are newly mixed from the original multi-track tapes. Included in the set is a Halloween mask lovingly described as a ‘Count Frankula’ mask, along with a red & black cape. Zap on over (like what we did there?) to our site here and pre-order your copy now.
That’s not the only goodie we have available for the spookiest month of the year. We have just had a shipment of horror movie soundtracks from Waxwork Records. Included in the shipment are awesome horror film titles such as Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Child’s Play (both the original and the 2019 remake), Evil Dead 2 and Stephen King’s It. All titles have exclusive and original cover artwork and are pressed on colour and/or splatter vinyl. To see our full range of Waxwork Records titles, go to our page here.
There are still so many more upcoming releases to discuss, including the titles from RSD Drop 3 and the newly announced Black Friday RSD. We’ll be back early next week to talk more at length about it. Oh, and we will definitely be delving into the details of the absolutely fabulous new version of Pink Floyd’s Delicate Sound Of Thunder. Head on over to our site here to check it out in the meantime though.
Well, that’s us for now. We’ve got a big weekend ahead of us to sort out Black Friday titles. We’ll talk to you all early next week. TTFN.
