Back again for our 3rd full week of 2021! The journey continues with processing your orders and getting our store front back up and running. It seems that we barely can keep up with the amazing upcoming releases, but here is a taste of some very exciting ones that are on the not-too-distant horizon.
With already so much coming our way this February, it feels like there isn't much room for any more music releases. But let's face it: there is always room for Black Sabbath deluxe box sets, especially when the set in question happens to be the super deluxe box set of Black Sabbath's Vol. 4. Coming out on a 5 LP edition, as well as a 4 CD edition, Black Sabbath Vol. 4 Super Deluxe features a remastered version of the original 1972 album; studio recordings, including outtakes and alternative versions all remixed from the analog multi tracks by Steven Wilson (yep, the Jethro Tull-King Crimson-Yes-remixes-Steven Wilson); and live recordings from March 1973 - originally recorded in the UK for a cancelled live album, but now mixed from the 16-track analog tapes by Richard Digby Smith. Both sets also include booklets with liner notes and rare photos, as well as a poster featuring early artwork for the album when it was originally titled Snowblind.
And whilst we still have the attention of all you beautiful Black Sabbath fans: do not forget that we still have stock of last year's Black Sabbath Ultimate Collection 50th Anniversary Edition 4 LP box set available here.
Also arriving in February is the soundtrack to the PlayStation 5 video game Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Featuring original score from composer John Paesano and original songs by Lecrae and Jaden Smith. Published by Mondo, this release also features exclusive original artwork by artist Chun Lo. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available to pre-order here.
And whilst we are on the subject of Mondo releases of PlayStation exclusive video game soundtracks (try saying that three times fast!), we have just had a recent re-stock of the amazing soundtrack to The Last Of Us. Anyone who has played the game - whether casual or avid gamer - knows how moving and iconic Gustavo Santaolalla's score is. Few games have been able to transcend into the realm of emotional storytelling. The Last Of Us obliterated that line, and it was in no small part due to Santaolalla's music. Available on double LP and featuring exclusive Mondo artwork, The Last Of Us Vol.1 and The Last Of Us Vol. 2 are available to order here and here (respectively).
Not arriving until April but defintely worth getting excited about now is the upcoming release of Evangelion Finally. This is the first time that this collection of songs by artists Yoko Takahashi and Megumi Hayashibara - as heard from anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion and film Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance - has been released on vinyl. Pressed on pink & magenta coloured vinyl and featuring an insert with artist interviews, Evangelion Finally is available to pre-order here.
A recent release that has just entered our store is the amazing 2 LP Ryuichi Sakamoto: Music For Film. In what is essentially a 'best of' compilation of the composers prolific work, this release features tracks from the films Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, The Last Emperor, Little Buddha, Hara-Kiri: Death Of A Sumarai, The Revenant and more. Approved by Sakamoto himself, all tracks are performed by the Brussels Philharmonic, led by Dirk Brosse. Not only is this release pressed on white & red splatter vinyl, but is limited to 1000 copes, all individually numbered. So y'know... order your copy now... which you can do right HERE in fact.
Check back with us next week for even more upcoming releases.
