Hi everyone. Hope you are all safe, well, and for those in Melbourne (like us here), we hope you’re staying strong in Stage 4 lockdown. Being at home all the time can be rough, but at least it’s a good opportunity to fill the soul with amazing music. And speaking of (yay, segue!), here’s some info on a bunch of releases that are just about to release.

Back in 1997, the great-one-fourth-of-the-greatest-rock-band-of-all-time himself Paul McCartney, released his tenth solo album Flaming Pie. The production of the album came just after McCartney’s involvement in The Beatles Anthology project. In the liner notes of the original release, Paul wrote that working on Anthology was a refresher course for him, reminding him of the high standards of The Beatles' original song writing and recording processes. He said that that “refresher course” helped with the framework of the production for his own next solo project. It definitely worked as Flaming Pie reached number 2 on the US and UK charts upon its release, became certified gold and as of 2007, had sold over 1.5 million copies. Flaming Pie had contributions from fellow ex-Beatle Ringo Starr; Paul’s wife and fellow ex-Wings member Linda McCartney; ELO founder Jeff Lynne; and orchestration from Beatles producer and recording studio legend George Martin.

Now, twenty-three years after its release, Flaming Pie has now had a new lease on life with the ongoing Paul McCartney Archive Collection. Four new versions of the album will be available as of this month. There will be a 2 LP remastered vinyl edition of the original album, as well as a 3 LP version with a bonus disc comprised of home recordings and a download voucher for digital tracks. There is also a 7 disc CD/DVD version comprised of a 2020 album remaster CD; a demos and home recordings CD; a studio tracks CD which includes acoustic versions of songs, rehearsals and rough mixes; a CD of B-sides from the Flaming Pie singles; and a CD of a spoken word documentary called Flaming Pie At The Mill. There will also be a DVD containing the documentary film In The World Tonight, and a DVD of original music videos, electronic press kits, live performances and original interviews.

Did you think that was all? Heck no! If you want to prove your hardcore fanhood for the great man, then I present to you the Flaming Pie Collector’s Edition. As well as including all the discs from the CD/DVD set, the Collector’s Edition also contains a 24bit 96kHz HD audio download of the album; 4 LPs (all half-speed cut and remastered at Abbey Road Studios) which include the original album, home recordings, and The Ballad of the Skeletons – a 1996 collaboration with Allen Ginsburg, Philip Glass and Lenny Kaye. Along with a 128-page book, a replica of the studio notebook, a poster and marbled art prints by Linda McCartney; the Flaming Pie Collector’s Edition is housed in a cloth-wrapped two-piece collector’s box and numbered to 3000 worldwide. All editions will be available from our webstore in the coming weeks of August, so pre-order your copy (or copies!) now.

Now it’s not all Paul McCartney (not that there is anything wrong with that!); in fact, coming out this September is the release of Mac Miller’s album K.I.D.S.(Kickin’ Incredibly Dope Shit). Originally released in 2010 for Rostrum RecordsK.I.D.S was Mac Miller’s fourth mixtape album and included the highly successful singles “Nikes On My Feet” and “Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza”. Although there have been bootleg vinyl and CD copies of K.I.D.S. in the past, this 10th anniversary version will be the first official vinyl (not to mention physical) release of the album. Pre-order your copy today.

We had a brief mention of Kylie Minogue’s new album in our last entry and promised more information when it became available to us. Well that time is now here… sort of! Although it is still too early to confirm a track listing, we can officially announce that Disco will be out in early November and will be available on turquoise or transparent blue vinyl. Naturally, we will keep updating details as they come in, but both versions are available to pre-order on our site now.

That's all for now, but we'll be back next week with a whole bunch of details on upcoming releases... (did someone mention The Rolling Stones Goat's Head Soup special editions and Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits on red, gold and white splatter?). So much more coming your way! But for now, stay safe, stay strong and keeping soothing the soul with awesome tunes.
