News Catch-up 20 March 2023

Welcome back everyone!

Hope you are all enjoying a beautiful March and listening to some amazing tunes. If you're beginning to sick of all of your favourite records though (don't worry, it happens from time to time!), we have news of some brand new ones coming your way in the not-so-distant future.

First up is the deluxe double LP release of Talking Heads' legendary Stop Making Sense live recording. Originally recorded in 1983, the Stop Making Sense concert was filmed by Hollywood director Jonathan Demme and released cinematically the following year. The soundtrack itself was released as a limited pressing, however this is the first time the concert has been released in full on vinyl. As well as classics like Psycho Killer and Burning Down The House, the tracking listing on the album includes previously unreleased tracks Cities and Big Business/I Zimbra; as well as tracks from the band's side projects and solo albums.

Included in this new is a replica of the booklet from the 1984 limited pressing, as well as never-before-seen photos and new liner notes by the band members.

Next up the brand new album from Australian rock band, The Church. The Hypnogogue is their first album in six years, and is - according to founder, vocalist and bassist, Steve Kilbey - 'the most prog rock thing' they have ever released. The Hypnogogue is a concept album, telling a story set in the year 2054 and focusing on a machine created by a North Korean occult scientist that extracts music from people's dreams.

Featured on the album are the two recent digital singles, The Hypnogogue and C'est Le Vie.

In 1954, jazz extraordinaire Chet Baker released Chet Baker Sings, and it went on to be one of his best-selling albums. The very next year, Baker returned to the studio to record a follow-up album, Chet Baker Sings & Plays. The album featured more of Baker's outstanding vocals talents, along with his signature trumpet skills.

This April, Blue Note Tone Poet is releasing a brand new mono edition. Produced by Joe Harley and mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, this edition has been pressed at the legendary RTI and will be packaged in a deluxe tip-on jacket.

Lastley, we have the brand new reissue of Tears For Fears' debut studio album, The Hurting. Originally released in 1983, The Hurting contained the singles, Change, Pale Shelter and Mad World; and was Platinum by 1985.

This new version has been produced using half-speed mastering by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios.
