Getcha Rocks Off
By: Chris on 3 July 2021So first a confession……. I loved Def Leppard in high school. Four plus years between Pyromania and Hysteria seemed like forever, but the early albums have always been my favourite. This live set from 1980 runs through the entirety of “On Through the Night” and a couple of songs from “High N Dry”, plus a few gems (more on that later). Despite a slightly muddy mix, the twin guitar attack (yes, attack - in 1980 Leppard were still a metal band, not the hard pop/rock behemoth they became under the guidance of Mutt Lange) shines through. It makes me ask the question why they flicked Pete Willis for Phil Collen…. It sure as hell wasn’t because of his playing. For me, the gems here are the songs that became something else. “Medicine Man” has the amazing riff that drove “Rock Rock”, the opening track of “Pyromania”. “When the Rain Falls” is basically “Let it Go”, the opener for “High N Dry”, with alternate lyrics and a completely different song structure laid over that riff….. just awesome. My favourite RSD 2021 release by far.

Maya Jane Coles - Take Flight 3LP box set
Sent In By: Dave on 24 April 2024Well priced and super quick dispatch. Arrived in a sturdy mailer, complete with an oversized outer jacket for the box set, which saved me having to source that separately, and one inner sleeve. Although three inner sleeves would have been perfect (since there were 3 LPs) it was still much appreciated. Not many Sellers include either of those accessories. So all told, a very positive buying experience. Recommended, and i will be buying more LPs in future.
