Altered Images is a Scottish new wave and post-punk band that gained prominence in the early 1980s. Formed in Glasgow in 1979, the band was fronted by the charismatic Clare Grogan, whose distinctive voice and vibrant stage presence became the band's signature. The group's music is characterized by its catchy melodies, jangly guitars, and an infectious, upbeat energy.

Their debut album, "Happy Birthday" (1981), produced by Martin Rushent, included the hit single of the same name, which propelled them into the UK Top 10 and established their presence in the music scene. The album's success was followed by "Pinky Blue" (1982) and "Bite" (1983), both of which continued to showcase their playful and inventive sound.

Altered Images' blend of pop sensibilities with a post-punk edge earned them a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim. Despite their relatively short-lived initial run, the band's influence on the new wave genre remains significant, and their music continues to be celebrated for its youthful exuberance and charm.
