Bob Dylan

What can be said about Master Troubadour Robert Zimmerman? Poet, painter, folk singer, band leader, Dylan has helped write the story of 20^th century music. From his folk roots at the dawn of the sixties, through albums embracing country, folk-rock, blues, swing, and the American Songbook, Dylan’s countenance adorns the Mount Rushmore of Rock. His songs channel the human experience into stories, pictures and tales of life’s pilgrimage; you may find his voice an acquired taste but his musical Voice has been central to popular music. With over 50 albums, there is much to collect, but few would argue with these essentials:

Highway 61 Revisited (1965), Blood On The Tracks (1975), Desire (1976).

Later albums such as Modern Times (2006) are also worth investigation. Of course, a Greatest Hits LP is always a fine entry point.
