Donna Summer

Donna Summer

Dubbed the "Queen of Disco", Donna Summer has sold over 100 million records world wide. A significant event in Summer’s early career was landing a part in the 1960s musical "Hair". It was a German production she toured with, resulting in an encounter with producer Giorgio Moroder. A collaboration with Moroder led to her break-through hit, "Love to love you baby", released as both a 45rpm single and a seventeen minute album version. Despite the controversy over the sensual moaning that flowed through the long version, the song hit the #2 spot in the US in early 1976.

A string of hugely popular disco albums followed, including her biggest seller, Bad Girls (1979). Records appeared regularly throughout the 1980s, building an impressive catalogue of 17 studio albums and a staggering 89 singles.
