Golden Earring

Golden Earring

A national treasure in their homeland of the Netherlands, Golden Earring had their first success in the second half of the 1960s. Although blues-based rock was their staple sound, they managed to inject enough personality into their albums that a multi-decade career resulted. The mid-1970s LPs have some engaging progressive features, making them relatable to fans of Wishbone Ash (for example). Golden Earring’s international moment of fame came with the hit "Radar love" from 1973’s Moontan LP. The single and album resulted in tours with The Who, Santana and The Doobie Brothers. Other albums to look out for are Contraband (1972) and Prisoner of the Night (1980).
