Robert Fripp

Robert Fripp

Although master guitarist Robert Fripp is most famous (musically) for his leadership of progressive rock demigods King Crimson and infamous (visually) for his outrageous Sunday Lunch musical bites with wife Toyah Wilcox, the man has actually collaborated with many other artists.

From the fabulous minimalist/ambient soundscapes created with Brian Eno to excellent albums with David Sylvian (Japan) and Andy Summers (The Police), Robert Fripp has explored a vast range of musical territory, all of it interesting. One contribution many have heard is Fripp's solo on David Bowie's "Heroes", a stunning lightning strike in a great song.

Another fascinating project occurred in the late 1970s. Fripp, Peter Gabriel and Darryl Hall (Hall & Oats) supported each other on LP projects, releasing a 'trilogy' of albums. These records—PG 2, Hall’s Sacred Songs, and Fripp’s Exposure—are rich, inventive albums worth investigating for fans of exploratory yet engaging rock music.
