Rory Gallagher

Irish blues-rock guitarist Rory Gallagher formed Taste, a thrilling blues-based trio, back in 1965. When they disbanded at the turn of the decade Gallagher went solo though he retained the trio format for some time. A series of well-regarded albums followed, with the guitarist building a devoted following through his live performances.

With an immense love of the blues, Gallagher’s style has been described as "unpretentious" yet deeply committed to the music he loved. He played some acoustic guitar and bottleneck as well, though the major influences were legends such as Muddy Waters and Chuck Berry. Gallagher recorded with Muddy, and also with Albert King and Jerry Lee Lewis. Never forgetting his Irish heritage, he also contributed to the music of Davy Spillane and The Fureys.

Album highlights include the 1971 self-titled debut, Deuce, and Tattoo (1973). The live albums are great too.
