Santana

Santana

Playing vibrant latin-influenced rock across six decades, Carlos Santana formed the band that bears his name in San Francisco in 1966. Their performance at the Woodstock Festival ignited interest in the band, with many considering the first four (or five) LPs essential. Certainly the first album (which produced the hit “Evil Ways”) was a fabulous start, yet it was Abraxas (released in 1970) that cemented their fame. Featuring Santana’s version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Black Magic Woman”, Abraxas contains soul, latin, powerful blues rock and even jazz-fusion and is rightly considered a classic. Across twenty-five albums (including 1999’s hit, Supernatural), Santana has explored vast musical territory, with one constant: the masterful, liquid guitar of Carlos himself.
