Silverchair

Rolling Stone magazine awarded Silverchair’s debut album four-and-a-half stars. In Triple J’s “Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time” it came in at #2. Not a bad opening salvo from a bunch of fifteen year olds from Newcastle. Singer, guitarist and songwriter Daniel Johns recalls the first album with fondness. “It’s just three Australian kids thrashing it out in the studio and that’s exactly how it sounds." Those "kids" ultimately won more ARIA awards than anyone else, ever. Over 5 albums and a decade of writing and performing their sound developed and expanded, leaving the grunge of the debut to embrace more sophisticated arrangements and song structures. Fans never knew quite what to expect from a Silverchair album, but they knew it would be  solid, intense, and truly Australian rock.
