The Lemonheads

The Lemonheads

The Lemonheads are an American alternative rock band that formed in 1986 in Boston, Massachusetts. The band was initially formed as a punk rock outfit by Evan Dando, who has remained the band's mainstay throughout its various incarnations. The band's early albums, such as "Hate Your Friends" and "Lick," were marked by their fast, aggressive sound and Dando's raw, snarling vocals. However, the band's sound evolved over time, incorporating elements of pop, folk, and country music.

The Lemonheads achieved mainstream success with their 1992 album "It's a Shame About Ray," which featured the hit single of the same name. The album showcased the band's new, more melodic sound and helped to establish them as a major force in the alternative rock scene of the 1990s. The Lemonheads continued to release critically acclaimed albums throughout the decade, including "Come on Feel the Lemonheads" and "Car Button Cloth."

Despite a hiatus in the early 2000s, The Lemonheads continue to perform and record today, with Evan Dando remaining at the helm. The band's legacy is marked by their distinctive blend of punk, pop, and folk influences, as well as their enduring influence on the alternative rock genre.
