Caravan

Considered one of the quintessential Canterbury bands, Caravan’s brand of melodic progressive rock has been delighting fans since 1968. After a debut album on Verve Forecast, the band signed with Decca and recorded a series of LPs that revealed a unique blend of jazz, psychedelic, and classical influences wrapped up in richly English lyrics.

Key members across their long career include Pye Hastings (Guitar, vocals), Richard Sinclair (Bass, vocals), Richard Coughlan (Drums), Geoffrey Richardson (stringed instruments and flute), and Jan Schelhaas (Keyboards). As one might expect over such a long career, there have been many personal changes yet the distinctive Caravan sound is consistent from 1971’s classic In The Land Of The Grey And Pink to the 2021 release It’s None Of Your Business. One of their many excellent live albums would provide a primer or leap in the deep end with the magnificent career-spanning boxed set Who Do You Think We Are?
