Growing up in a Vietnamese family in Houston, Texas, Keshi (born Casey Luong) found musical inspiration by teaching himself acoustic guitar and listening to Ed Sheehan and John Mayer. A true child of the digital age, Keshi learned songwriting, engineering and sound production via on-line videos. He began sharing his music via SoundCloud and found that his wistful songs, light tenor voice and extensive use of falsetto resonated with many listeners. Musically, a down-beat hip hop style and R&B vocal influences dominate. Keshi's popularity grew rapidly, with Wikipedia estimating that his songs have been streamed over a billion times.

Keshi signed with Island Records in 2019 and released his first studio album, Gabriel, in March 2022.
