King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard

They have been described as having 'a strong work ethic' and being 'musically mischievous'. The Allmusic Guide observed that the band formed in Melbourne circa 2010 are 'nothing if not prolific', while the word eclectic simply doesn’t do justice to their restless, hyperactive creativity.

Initially a cult indie band with a small but devoted following, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have embraced neo-psychedelia, metal, alt pop/rock, garage rock, prog, and non-Western scales to create an ever-growing catalogue of idiosyncratic and highly entertaining albums. There’s a charming lack of artifice and inspiring collective spirit infusing their work; in a cut-throat and financially fraught industry these guys insist on having fun and appear to genuinely get a kick out of inviting their many fans along for the ride.

Having released roughly two dozen albums in the first ten years of their existence, the band show no signs of slowing down. It would be a brave pundit who predicted either their future output or the directions they will explore, but one thing is certain. It will be a colourful ride.
