Linkin Park

Linkin Park

Combining alt rock, metal and rap components into a powerful indi rock package, Linkin Park formed in California, USA, in 1996. The band consisted of lead vocalist Chester Bennington, rapper and vocalist Mike Shinoda, guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, DJ Joe Hahn, and drummer Rob Bourdon. Linkin Park surged to prominence in the early 2000s with their debut album Hybrid Theory (2000) which included the hits "In the End" and "One Step Closer."

The band continued to blend different music elements into their sound, later including more electronic and pop elements. Lyrically, they were drawn to themes of struggle, loss, and addiction. Some of this played out in real life, with the untimely death of Chester Bennington in 2017. After this loss the band entered an extended hiatus.

Since that time there have been hints and teases regarding new music, including an interactive game based around the album Meteora (2003) which appeared on their website in early 2023, but nothing substantial has been released to date.
