Mariah Carey

Blessed with an extraordinary vocal range—a soaring five octaves, thank you very much!—Mariah Carey burst onto the pop/soul/R&B scene with her self-titled debut in 1990, a #1 album in the US. Spoken of in the same breath as Whitney Houston or Celine Dion, Ms Carey is a genuine pop diva, holding her own (and more) with legends like Madonna. Part of her appeal lies in the smooth incorporation of different music styles, including hip-hop and gospel. With six chart topping records in the US, an impressive eleven top ten albums in Australia and a timeless yuletide hit in “All I want for Christmas is you”, Mariah Carey is a singer for all seasons.
