From indie beginnings in late 80s Brisbane, Powderfinger broke through in 1998 with their second album, Internationalist, an Australian #1. The following album, 2000’s Odyssey Number Five, achieved 8 x Platinum status in Australia and remains a favourite of their many fans. Despite five albums in a row topping the Australian charts, with the band called it a night in 2010, feeling they had said all they could as Powderfinger.
Although not quite. Powderfinger reformed briefly in May 2020 to perform online in support of the mental health organisation Beyond Blue (one of many charity-supporting activities). What fans will cherish are the songs—over thirty singles!—that charted teenage and twenty-something journeys throughout the continent.
