British stadium rockers Queen are larger than life. With a catalogue of hits stretching across four decades and fifteen studio albums to their credit, the band that formed in the early seventies has travelled a very long way from that glam-prog beginning. Even the loss of Freddie Mercury, their charismatic frontman, did not stop the band. Although Freddie was irreplaceable, another singer eventually settled into the role, and Queen keeps rolling. With an admirable ability to find powerful, catchy riffs and weld them onto even catchier choruses, Queen’s world-straddling anthems (including ‘We are the champions’, and ‘We will rock you’) would be enough to have earned them fame and fortune. Add in a platinum-plated classic like ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, you have rock immortality. No wonder their Greatest Hits albums remain massively popular.
