Robert Johnson

Robert Johnson

Robert Johnson was born in Mississippi in 1911. He died twenty-seven years later, penniless and homeless. Yet in his short life, the itinerant blues singer changed music.

The haunting songs of Robert Johnson are immortalised on the small number of sides he recorded for Columbia Records; a double album will cover his entire catalogue. Yet his unique blues voice echoes down the decades and continues to influences successive generations of musicians. The Rolling Stones, Cream, the White Stripes, Led Zeppelin… these are just a few of the artists who have covered the songs of Robert Johnson.
