Shania Twain

Hailing from the Canadian province of Ontario, home of Neil Young and the Cowboy Junkies, Shania Twain was one of the most important country artists of the 1990s. Adding some rock punch to well established traditions, Twain helped popularise and revitalise country music for pop audiences.

Linking up—both professionally and personally—with hard rock producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, Shania’s second album produced her first #1 single, "Any Man of Mine". The next album, Come On Over, was massively successful, selling over 40 million copies world wide and topping charts across the globe. With further #1 albums in 2002 (Up!) and 2017 (Now), Twain proved she was an artist of enduring popularity.

Twain published a memoir in 2011, the same year she married Frédéric Thiébaud. He was the ex-husband of the woman who "Mutt" Lange had an affair with, leading to their divorce in 2010. Plenty of material for new country songs, right there.

Six years after Now Shania released Queen Of Me in February 2023, her sixth studio album.
