Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble

Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble

Hailing from the dry and dusty state of Texas, Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the most successful American blues-rock artists of the 1980s. Vaughan—whose brother Jimmie is also an accomplished musician—formed the band Double Trouble in the late 1970s and produced six studio albums before his untimely death in a helicopter crash in 1990. With a guitar style rooted in the electric blues of Albert King and Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan injected an exhilarating dose of Jimi Hendrix into his playing.

Coupled with his ability to sink into sad, blues-soaked ballads, Vaughan’s versatility shines on albums such as “Texas Flood” (his debut) and “Couldn’t Stand The Weather”. In the single “Crossfire”, the guitarist had his only #1 US single, but it was the albums that counted. Fans of everyone from Eric Clapton to Joe Bonamassa love the electric blues-rock of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
