The Strokes

The Strokes

The Strokes are an American rock band renowned for their distinctively cool, garage-rock sound. Formed in New York City in 1998, the band consists of lead vocalist Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti.

The band's 2001 debut album, "Is This It," was met with widespread critical acclaim and is often cited as a major catalyst for the early-2000s garage rock revival movement. With their raw sound and nonchalant stage presence, The Strokes became synonymous with the new era of indie rock.

Their subsequent albums, including "Room on Fire" (2003) and "First Impressions of Earth" (2006), continued to explore their signature style. After a brief hiatus, they returned with "Angles" (2011) and "Comedown Machine" (2013), followed by "The New Abnormal" (2020), which won the Grammy for Best Rock Album in 2021.

The Strokes' enduring influence on modern rock music cements their legacy as one of the genre's pivotal acts.
