After leaving Irish 60s legends Them, singer Van Morrison began a solo career that has made him a legend himself. Beginning with the hugely admired Astral Weeks, Morrison developed his own distinct style throughout the 1970s. You can hear it all on the exciting live album It’s Too Late To Stop Now and of course, the peerless Moondance.
Informed by rhythm and blues, jazz, soul and folk music, Van Morrison has been releasing albums at regular intervals for well over half a century. Highlights of the 1980s included Poetic Champions Compose and his collaboration with The Chieftains, Irish Heartbeat. In 1991, Hymns To The Silence proved the master had torrents of excellent music still coursing through his veins, while the twenty-first century has continued to prove a fertile period for the poet-singer.
