XTC

XTC

XTC was an English rock band formed in Swindon, Wiltshire, in 1972. The band initially started as a punk and new wave outfit but later evolved into a more eclectic and artful sound. Led by songwriters Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding, XTC achieved critical acclaim and a dedicated cult following for their intelligent and thought-provoking lyrics, innovative songwriting, and genre-blending music.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, XTC produced a string of influential albums, including "Drums and Wires," "Black Sea," and "English Settlement." Hits like "Making Plans for Nigel" and "Senses Working Overtime" showcased their distinctive sound.

Despite their success, XTC's aversion to touring and internal struggles led them to stop performing live in the mid-1980s. They continued to release albums throughout the '80s and '90s, pushing artistic boundaries with experimental works.

Though the band officially disbanded in 2006, XTC's legacy endures, with their music inspiring countless artists and remaining a beloved part of alternative and new wave music history.
