Funk

Funk is said to have originated in the United States in the mid 1960s within the African-American communities when musicians combined soul and rhythm & blues and a bit of jazz into a highly danceable sound. Artists such as James Brown experienced huge success with numerous hit records that would cement the genre in households all across the globe. The sound is described as having a lot of yells, shouts, hollers, moans, humming, and melodic riffs with a lot of emphasis on smooth vocals and funky beats.
