Itzhak Perlman’s performances in these two major violin concertos (Beethoven & Tchaikovsky) are dazzling and achieved legendary status as soon as they were released. He finds the perfect recording companions with two mythical conductors, Carlo Maria Giulini in Beethoven, and Eugene Ormandy in Tchaikovsky.
BEETHOVEN - Describing it as “a journey that will last you for the rest of your life”, Perlman emphasises that the Beethoven Violin Concerto is among the greatest of musical masterpieces. Its stature is reflected in this magnificent recording, conducted with nobility by Carlo Maria Giulini.
“This is a very distinguished performance indeed. It is one where one’s senses tell one from the start that nothing will mar the employment; how this should be I do not know, but immediate distinction is already apparent and it is never lost.” Gramophone Magazine (Best Concerto Recording Award in 1981)
