Joni Mitchell, song to a seagull vinyl
By: Lance Jilbert on 28 February 2024Being Joni's first album it's pretty much folk music, great writing of course with her wonderful vocals, guitar and piano playing to the for.the recordings are not of the highest standard but not to bad and I read that Joni wasn't at all happy with the original mix and mastering and therefore had these reissue pressings remixed and remastered.David Crosby produced the album but I think that's neither here nor there and for the average listener like myself it has little impact on whether you are going to like the album or not.I myself quite like it, it's far from my favourite Joni album but it's a significant part of history I think anyone who is building there Joni collection should add this album, after all this is where it all started for Joni, the beginning of her journey to greatness and a taste of her brilliant discography to come in the following years, decades and still continues today.joni deserves every accolade she has ever received, a treasure, a legend and her music will be loved and listened to forever.

Joni Mitchell, song to a seagull
By: Lance on 10 December 2023Joni's debut album, 10 wonderful folk or folk like songs, just Joni's voice, guitar and piano with Stephen Stills playing a few Bass parts.I'm not sure what has been said about this album but my guess is that Joni wrote these songs mainly about the journey that unfolded from when she met David Crosby and him bringing her to California to commence her path to stardom, lyrically it's beautiful poetry of her experiences, relationships and observations during that time, beautifully composed into song and delivers with Joni's unique guitar tunings, picking and strumming style, her vocals pure and flawless! If you want to hear how Joni began her mainstream musical career I highly recommend this album. My vinyl copy is flat and quiet, with the remastering sounding quite good. As usual Discrepancy did a great job with packaging arriving in perfect condition and in good time.
