LA Philharmonic Centenary Edition" Celebrating a legendary label-orchestra partnership and 100 years of musical excellence, Deutsche Grammophon marks the CENTENARY of the LA Philharmonic with a limited edition 32CD+3DVD set assembled with input from Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel. Starting with Otto Klemperer and featuring every music director since (plus guest conductors LB and Stravinsky), the set includes 2 CDs o 32CD/3DVD. WA-38718618|Verdi's I Lombardi alla prima crociata (1843) is one of his least known operas, offering effective choral scenes and a wealth of catchy melodies. Moreover, in 1847 the composer considered I Lombardi worthy to rework it for Paris into a Grand OpΘra according to French taste, which was even translated back into Italian because of its great success. The 'Lombards', written immediately after Nabucco, now live a shadowy existence even among Verdi's early operas. Marcus Bosch once again offers us the opportunity to revise many prejudices against VerdiÆs early works. WA-38718656|Charles-Marie Widor: this name is the embodiment of French organ music of the nineteenth century. The illustrious organ builder CavaillΘ-Coll promoted WidorÆs career while he was still a student and recommended him for the post of titular organist at St-Sulpice. Widor quickly gained renown as a composer, and his ten symphonies for organ solo are regarded even today as the non plus ultra of the virtuoso French school. Christian SchmittÆs release of WidorÆs first four organ symphonies immediately demonstrated that this musician ranking as the most outstanding German organist of the younger generation was their congenial interpreter. Now Schmitt interprets the six other symphonies on the St-Ouen Abbey Church constructed by CavaillΘ-Coll from 1888 to 1890. Widor is said to have described this instrument as ôUne orgue α Michel-Angeö û a reference to the universal artist Michelangelo that may be interpreted to mean that for him this organ was just as multifaceted and perfect. The St-Ouen organ was one of the last instruments designed by CavaillΘ-Coll. Since it has been preserved without changes, it is of great historical significance. And the opportunity to experience this music and the organ in spectacular SS makes for magnificent listening. In formal respects not so much changes in the fifth and sixth symphonies. Both continue to have five movements and adapt to the ôclassicalö orchestral symphonic formats only in some passages. The rich sound palette of the organ, which leads to a majestic tutti, plays a more important role than in the orchestra. In his organ symphonies Widor seems to assign central importance to the presentation of the organÆs infinitely combinable tones in the context of the most very different forms. Another Widor speaks to us in his late organ symphonies. Albert Schweitzer described them (1906) as ôtransitional works. They are designed for the organ and yet boldly orchestral in their conception. At the same time, however, the austere element increasingly comes into the foreground, the austere element that then led Widor back to sacred art in his last two symphonies [Nos. 9 and 10].ö Here the Protestant Schweitzer meant the Catholic WidorÆs ultimate return to liturgical sources, in particular to Gregorian chan WA-38703249|Vinyl LP pressing. 2019 release. For the Morning, written and produced by Ramsey, connects the listener to this setting with dexterous guitar fingerpicking and radiant acoustic piano; affecting pedal steel and gorgeous languid vocals. Ramsey, along with engineer Kevin Ratterman (My Morning Jacket, Ray LaMontagne, Joan Shelley, Strand of Oaks) and Seth Kauffman of Floating Action (and touring musician for Jim James, Ray LaMontagne) recorded a clutch of Ramsey demos at La La Land studios in Louisville, KY. For The Morning is complemented by spots from several guest musicians, including Joan Shelley, Thad Cockrell, and Molly Parden who sing harmony on various tracks, the pedal steel player Russ Paul, Nathan Salsburg and Gareth Liddiard from The Drones on guitar. WA-38717697|After reissuing his much sought-after Time and Place LP, many questions still remained (Lee was a mysterious man!) - but the one asked most was, "where's "Bad Girl"?!" Not included on his lone LP, "Bad Girl" is an undisputed Southern soul classic - arguably the song Lee Moses' legacy rests on. While we may never know all we wish we knew about the man behind the music, we can finally complete the picture of his work. You know - the tunes! And what tunes they are. How Much Longer Must I Wait? Singles & Rarities 1965-1972 collects all of Lee Moses' non-album singles and B-sides, plus three never-released tracks together for the first time ever. Most of the material here pre-dates 1971's Time and Place, reflecting his initial bid for stardom via a series of now-legendary 45s recorded with Atlanta producer Johnny Brantley. As for the unreleased recordings - much like the man himself, little is known about them. What remains is an oeuvre that has become synonymous with raw and emotionally charged Southern soul. Essential listening for anyone with a heart. WA-38727061|This is THE single. 1979. Detroit, Michigan. A-Moms, a.k.a. Algebra Mothers, were one of the Midwest's early cutting-edge new wave punk groups, who would go on to play shows with like-minded artists Pere Ubu, Destroy All Monsters and Sonic's Rendezvous Band. And this is their only release ever, that is, up until Third Man released a compilation of unreleased and live material last summer. Now you have the chance to own a reissue of the single that sparked it all, in 3 vibrant and eye-catching colorways. 'Strawberry Cheesecake' is absolutely frantic and infinitely catchy, popping right off of the platter into your ears. Lightning bolt melodic synth punches, desperately human but then briefly robotic vocals and no shortage of freewheeling guitar solos make no secret why this track so beloved. On the flip side, 'Modern Noise' is an alien punk keyboard-cram blaster with a decimating, canonical guitar freakout feedback ending that successfully melts minds. WA-38720116|Both Shostakovich and Gulda were masters at blending the levels of art and light music in a profitable way. One discreetly and he almost refines through the back door, the other in the form of a provocative cultural shock in his role as a musical bourgeois terror. On his recording for Ars Produktion, Friedrich Kleinhapl unites works of the two 'opposing' geniuses. Friedrich Kleinhapl is immensely expressive and passionate. Worldwide, he entices the audience as well as critics as a soloist and as chamber musician with his noteworthy performances. He does many things in a new and different way: starting with his posture holding the cello, and his interpretations to the thrilling way to tell the piecesÆ stories during the concerts and the individual arrangement of his programs and art projects. Additionally, he concerns himself in a heartfelt way with children with hearing impairment through his association ôGet a Hearingö. WA-38720239|The Dutch musician Krijn Koetsveld has often conducted Bach, and he was founder-director of The Netherlands Bach Ensemble. However, it is the name of Claudio Monteverdi with which he is indelibly associated: he first encountered the composerÆs music in 1972, and describes it as ælove at first sight, which never passedÆ. This relationship matured over time into the foundation of a soloistic vocal group, Le Nuove Musiche, with the technical skills, the scholarly understanding and the musical sensitivities to do justice to the highly intimate, sophisticated genre of Renaissance madrigal, of which the nine books by Monteverdi represent its summit and fullest flowering. Recording all nine books, and several other mini-dramas and vocal chamber works which fall within the genre but outside the books themselves, began in 2004 and was only completed in 2018. Koetsveld contributes a lively and authoritative introduction to the whole project in the booklet. He remarks: æNine books of madrigals, all of them unique, contributing to the transition from the Renaissance to the baroque, a musical history in sound.Æ As the series has been released, its importance has been widely recognised in the critical press. In 2017, Fanfare observed: æIl Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda is representative of KoetsveldÆs approach. The harmonic outline of the continuo is restrained and precise, the tutti playing of the strings articulated clearly. Both instrumental and concerted textures are so transparent one could take dictation to the recording. In a luminous performance as the narrator, Falco van Loon is focused and crystalline; Wendy Roobol is a clean, nimble Clorinda. Arnout Lems is the most dramatic of the soloists, voicing Tancredi in a rich but gentle baritone.Æ WA-38727122|Vinyl LP pressing. 2019 release. Audiences from Manchester to Melbourne, London to Los Angeles, Newcastle to New York, and everywhere in between have been engulfed by the swell of eager sentiment propelled from a vociferous fanbase. Catfish and the Bottlemen possess a magnetic and dynamic focal point in Van McCann, renowned for posing every day, easily identifiable observations through his lyrics. WA-38720772|Limited box set with gold foil stamp, individually numbered, two gold vinyl LPs, CD, journal, five posters, four pieces of sheet music, 10 lithos, and two glossy 8x10 photos with an envelope. 2018 soundtrack to the remake of the iconic film, performed by the lead actors Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga with snippets of film dialogue interspersed between the songs. WA-38722011|The ultimate heavy metal vocal super group has arrived! Tim "Ripper" Owens of Judas Priest and Iced Earth fame, Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin from US power metal legends Jag Panzer, and Sean "The Hell Destroyer" Peck from Cage, Denner/Shermann, and Death Dealer have joined forces to deliver an 12 song, all original album, where all 3 singers perform together on every track. The album is a perfect mix of power, speed, thrash, and classic true metal with all the vocal fireworks you would expect from these 3 metal beasts! Fresh off their European live tour, this truly unique experience is a band not just a project, so do not hesitate to buy because this album will exceed even your highest expectations! WA-38804656|Vinyl LP pressing, Tal Wilkenfeld is a musical marvel; the kind of dynamic young talent whose fresh vision and uncanny intuition puts a whole new perspective on an age-old art form. While many people know Tal as the masterly bassist with Jeff Beck and her high-profile guest appearances with legends from Mick Jagger and Prince to The Allman Bros and Herbie Hancock, music fans are about to discover an entirely new side of Tal as a vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. On her vocal debut album, Love Remains Tal's range of talents are on full display, achieving a stunning balance between instrumental prowess and exquisite song craft, quickly captivating the ear and soul. The 10-song collection explores love, loss, and life through a poetic blend of Tal's lyrics, storytelling and masterful musicianship. The album was primarily recorded at Los Angeles' East West Studios and co-produced with Paul Stacey (Oasis, The Kooks, Black Crowes). Jackson Browne contributed as Executive Producer and the album features backing from a bevy of friends and highly respected players including guitarist Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes, Perfume Genius), keyboardists Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Zac R" (Death Cab for Cutie, Lana Del Rey) and drummer Jeremy Stacey (Ryan Adams, Noel Gallagher). WA-38720956|Double vinyl LP pressing. RIITIIR is the twelfth studio album from the Norwegian extreme metal band Enslaved. It was released on September 28, 2012 in Europe and on October 9, 2012 in North America. The name RIITIIR is Ivar Bj°rnson's Norse-ified take on the words "Rites/Rituals
