WA-35510123|A surprise double A-side single from celebrated brother and sister duo Wild Belle, featuring new tracks "Untamed Heart" and "Morphine Dreamer." "Untamed Heart" was produced by Doc McKinney (The Weeknd) and Wild Belle's own Elliot Bergman, while "Morphine Dreamer" was recorded with the legendary Daptone Records crew. Wild Belle will donate proceeds from the sale of these singles to Hurricane relief efforts. WA-35512165|The Utah Symphony is one of AmericaÆs major symphony orchestras and a leading cultural organization in the Intermountain West. It is recognized internationally for its distinctive performances, commitment to music education programs, history and recording legacy. Here they join with the internationally-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir to present a thrilling and authoritative interpretation of the immense Mahler Symphony No. 8, ôSymphony of a Thousand.ö This new release was recorded live in February 2016, from concerts in the Salt Lake Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah, sponsored by the O.C. Tanner Gift of Music. This organization was founded over 30 years ago through the combined vision of Obert C. Tanner and Gordon B. Hinckley, to share performances of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Utah Symphony, as a gift to the community. WA-35518556|Grand Rapids' finest Whirlwind Heat is notable as Italy Records' first foray into anything that could possibly be considered art-rock. Listening to their jams, you'd quickly get the feeling DEVO and Brainiac were spinning heavily on their turntables. On each track, the rhythm section is quick and jagged and vocals are hardly even human, interspersed with synth bursts. This single, Italy's 12th release, was also recorded with Jack White in 2001 and began a partnership that lasts to this day, with WWH drummer Brad Holland working as Third Man's in house video director and lead singer David Swanson accompanying Jack White on tour as his official photographer. WA-35518525|The Dirtys were a totally raw garage punk band originally from Port Huron, MI. Their energy, coupled with a sound somewhere between the Oblivians and the MC5, is what makes a live show worthwhile. Celebrated Detroit garage hero Mick Collins (Gories, Dirtbombs) played guitar on the A-side 'It Ain't Easy,' which was unsuccessfully pitched to the Detroit City Council as the new official anthem of Detroit. Italy Records was founded to release this single by these knuckleheads before the release of their debut LP on respected German label Crypt Records. For one reason or another, this Dirtys 7' actually ended up being Italy's second release. Regardless, it's as punk as it gets and demands your full time and attention. WA-35518518|Rocket 455 is a Flamin' Groovies-loving garage rock band formed in Detroit in 1992 after the breakup of local scene essentials The Nervo Beats. Although this was Rocket 455's third single, it was the first that featured the new, longest and current line up, including founding member Marco Delicato back in the fold as well as Steve 'Disco' Nawara from the Electric Six. This 7' was released on Devil's Night in 1997 and is notable as the first record ever produced and released by Italy Records. WA-35518549|Out of the ashes of Toledo's Henry and June arose the mighty Soledad Brothers. This recording is the Soledad Brothers doing what they did best - houserockin' blues in full Midwestern malaise. This single was recorded in 1998 at Jack White's house on Ferdinand Street in southwest Detroit and was the band's debut release. As key players in a scene of like-minded minimalist garage groups, vocalist, guitarist and master of harmonica Johnny Walker and drummer/future Third Man Records co-founder Ben Swank, were playing shows in Detroit so often, it eventually just made sense for Ben to pay Jack rent and become his roommate. This single features Jack playing a metal snow shovel on the B-side, 'Johnny's Death Letter'. WA-35528852|Wilhelm FurtwΣngler dedicated his life to perpetuating the traditions of Germanic culture. During the six last years of his career, he went to Vienna to preserve that city's proud tradition and its famed Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. He conducted operatic music with great imagination, overtures included, and this collection features some of the most famous. WA-33628189|The Turtles lost album featuring all the original 1966 mono mixes. Nine out of the twelve mixes have never been released. WA-35541554|The label on this single hits the nail on the head - Michigan's singing cowboy! Despite a very long 45-year career in country music as a promoter, radio station operator, artist and label owner, very little is known about Earl Peterson. In late 1952, he formed Nugget Records with his mother, basically as a means of self-releasing his music. While shopping his music down South, he met Sam Phillips and agreed to release his song on Sun Records in the spring of 1954. This bouncing, twangy single would prove to be a cult hit and original pressings still command a lofty price. As the first remotely contemporary country single on the label, Peterson's single paved the way for Sun to later pivot into the country genre. From there, Peterson's story becomes a bit murkier. He recorded the same song for Columbia in the fall of 1954, strangely disregarding his contractual agreements with Sun. He went on to release a couple more singles with Columbia and by the '60s, was holed up in rural central Michigan to run a radio station (WPLB) with his family. WA-35541578|Almost all of Sun Records' early rock and roll artists hailed from the South. The one exception in these formative years was Detroit native John Pavlik, better known as Johnny Powers. Releasing his first songs with the fantastic Detroit label Fortune Records, Powers was determined to be signed to Sun Records after wearing out his copies of Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley singles. His sole release on Sun titled "With Your Love, With Your Kiss" b/w "Be Mine, All Mine" is a highly collectible piece in the Sun catalog. The A-side is powerful and intense, with popping snare, blaring saxophone in the bridge and an impassioned Powers wailing all over the track. The B-side is more of a boogie rocker with an absolutely unforgettable falsetto vocal melody in each post-chorus. After Fortune and Sun, Powers went on to release records with Motown Records, certainly the only artist to record for all three wildly diverse labels. This nugget of early rock history is not to be missed. WA-35546887|Triple-Platinum Guitar-Rock Classic! Peaked at #5 and Remained on Billboard Charts for Over Two Years! Intervention Records is thrilled to present Billy Squier's 1981 rock anthem, Don't Say No. The classic rock staple catapulted Squier's career to new heights. His live shows became arena rock sensations and four tracks from this album became classic rock radio staples in heavy rotation today: 'In the Dark,' 'The Stroke,' 'My Kind of Lover' and 'Lonely is the Night.' The original album art has been restored by IR's Tom Vadakan. The Hybrid CD/SACD will be housed in a super jewel box. The Don't Say No hybrid SACD was mastered directly from analog tape to DSD by Kevin Gray at CoHEARent Audio from the original master tapes! Gray's remastering is revelatory in opening the soundstage up to massive proportions while providing superior 3D imaging and musical microdetail. WA-35544333|Bleak, hard-driven 3rd LP (1983) offers GREG SAGE at his most chased & breathless, lashing out w/ sharp staccato notes as if melody were his only defense. The jagged, effortless guitar lines, the paranoid lyrics & raw-throated vocals, & the taut, unified rhythms that define their sound bleed together most clearly on this LP. Audiophile grade vinyl, packaged in a deluxe tip-on sleeve. WA-35553410|Camerata RCO performs the classical Bach Goldberg Variations which are arranged by Soviet-Russian born orchestrator-arranger Dmitry Sitkovetsky. The Bach Goldberg Variations, BWV 988, is a work written for harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach, consisting of an aria and a set of 30 variations, after which the aria is repeated. These important examples of the variations are named after Johan Gottlieb Goldberg, who may have been the first performer of the published work in 1741. The performers consisting of Annebeth Webb (violin), Jeroen Woudstra (viola) and Honorine Sch"ffer (violoncello) are members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Furthermore, there is a, somehow maybe unusual, but unique approach in the liner notes. Inspired by the Goldberg Variations, Thomas A. Beijer has written a humorous Vaudeville One Act which can be seen as the theatrical backdrop to the classical music. To complete this unique approach arranger Dmitry Sitkovetsky adds his thoughts on the Bach Goldberg Variations. The cover photographs, called Approaching Shadow, were made by Shanghai born award-winning photographer Fan Ho (1931-2016). WA-35557302|Limited seven-inch picture disc vinyl pressing featuring a previously unreleased live version of the Heroes album track æBlackoutÆ recorded on the 16th May, 1978 at the Deutschlandhalle, Berlin. Originally released in the UK on 6th January, 1978, ÆBeauty And The BeastÆ was the second single to be taken from the album Heroes, which was recorded at the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin. King CrimsonÆs Robert Fripp plays on the track and has claimed that the lead guitar used on æBeauty And The BeastÆ was his first take having arrived directly at Hansa Studios from New York. David Bowie inhabited a very special world of extraordinary sounds and endless vision. Unwilling to stay on the treadmill of rock legend and avoiding the descent into ever demeaning and decreasing circles of clichΘ, Bowie wrote and performed what he wanted, when he wanted. According to an NPR radio interview with Alice Cooper, "Desperado" was written about Robert Vaughn's character from the movie The Magnificent Seven. Start Your Ear Off Right! WA-35570325|PARADE OF SUFFERING deliver their first 7ö of a planned trilogy. Horrible Relief serves up 11 songs of dissonant hardcore with hints of sludge, all vomited forth by someone with a broken heart on the hunt for a witch. Taking a cue from the first TYPE O NEGATIVE release, PoS exorcise the inner demons of sensitivity and itÆs horrifying conclusions. WA-35590101|Cut from the same cloth as bands such as Gorguts and Deathspell Omega, Urraca makes for a praise worthy debut from technical geniuses Sunless. If you feed off monstrous and brilliant compositions, then you will be sold upon the band's first track, Sunless deliver upon an album with terrific band chemistry, absolutely devastating instrumentation, and a unique spin with each song. WA-35595366|Seven inch vinyl pressing. The intriguing character known as Zackey Force Funk is bringing his psychedelic brand of future funk to MoFunk Records, one of the prime players in the ever-expanding world of modern funk. Designed as an appetizer for his full-length MoFunk project, Zackey brings you "Slow Attack," a track that delivers on the promise of its title, with brooding, ominous, synth-heavy production from Liquid Pegasus. ItÆs the kind of track that demands play in a lowrider driving straight from the darkest corners of hell. The flip, XL MiddletonÆs ôYouÆre So Different,ö is a bonus track from his Things Are Happening LP, previously only available on the CD release. ItÆs a perfect counterpoint to ZackeyÆs A-side, a frenetic slice of modern electro-funk, drenched in loose synth lines and staccato bass notes, as Middleton delivers sly commentary on those who falsely declare themselves intellectually superior. ItÆs a dance floor filler with a cynical, yet humorous message intertwined. WA-35595373|Seven inch vinyl pressing. Kansas City soul supergroup Hi-Lux comes strong with their debut single on Sunflower Soul Records. This double-sider is packed with infectious grooves and hooks that we dare you not to get stuck in your head for days after the first spin! The A-side ôDance With My Babyö is a driving boogie that will pack dance floors and sounds like it could be an unreleased track from Mich"l JacksonÆs ôOff the Wallö. The B-side ôDonÆt Blame Meö is a spacey illustration of the perils of love, with plenty of dub-esque tape delays and echo slaps throughout. If you choose to sleep on this sure-to-be hit single, donÆt blame us! WA-35595380|Limited seven inch vinyl pressing. The Buy Muy Drugs' macrocosm is a system animal that manifests as our natural and physical world. Through an occidental lens, the current collective experience captures a subversion of normality; everything is not okay. The sway pharmaceutical monoliths have over our policy-makers and subsequently, our lives, has effected all sectors of society. This same power structure shapes the media we regard. In order to cope with post-truths and fake news, people turn to hyper-consumerism. In the age of alternative facts, we seek alternative drugs. To create a truly psychedelic experience, this release has phonotropic artwork that animates when viewed in camera at 30 frames per second, in direct light, adding an extra layer to the experience. Buy Muy Drugs' sound is designer dissonance. An Afro-Brazilian percussive mien hybridized with the aggressive, federally-sanctioned genre: loom-bap. The bass-drunk 909s, programmed to stomp mud-holes throughout the full-length's soundscape, drive the manic transitions between maximal bliss and minimal dystopia. WA-35604952|Since their start in 2004, Indianapolis' APOSTLE OF SOLITUDE have served as a reference for all fans of HEAVY DOOM METAL. Matching the heaviness of traditional DOOM METAL with the darker side of NWOBHM (Angelwitch above all), the band raised to a cult status both in their homeland and on European soil thanks to an endless number of live shows. "From Gold to Ash" is their 4th studio album WA-35608813|They say that it takes ten thousand hours to master anything. Using that logic, BoiseÆs HUMMINGBIRD OF DEATH has then practiced a bit over two hours a day for their twelve years as a band to hit this mark right before going into the studio to record Forbidden Techniques because the Boise boys have put together an absolute masterpiece. Twenty four songs in twenty four minutes will decimate your mind and memory for twenty four hours after listening. HOD has been perfecting their song and taken nods from NEOS, LARM, ELECTRO-HIPPIES, and all things fast and has taken twelve days in the studio formulating a fastcore mental maze of weaving/looping riffs and runs that will leave you breathless and satisfied. This is the best recording, best effort, and best material of the ever-evolving purveyors of playing faster than fast. WA-35609193|Limited double ten inch vinyl pressing. Under the alias of Zanov we find the works of French electronic pioneer Pierre Salkazanov, who had started playing guitar in the 1960s in a Shadows styled band, Les Ambassadors. Instrumental rock was not enough for Salkazanov, he was always looking for evolution, so when a meeting with French synth player Serge Ramses (of "Secret" fame) got him into the world of synthesizers he just dived deep into the bourgeoning world of electronic music. He got himself an EMS VCS3 and started producing works into a four-track Teac tape machine. French music was at it's best, it was the time of Jean Michel Jarre, Didier Bocquet, Richard Pinhas and Heldon, Alain Meunier... Even Gong's Tim Blake was living in France at that time. By the time of his second LP, Moebius 256 301, issued also on Polydor in 1977, Zanov had already gathered a small collection of gear, including an ARP 2600 and an ARP sequencer, his old VCS3, an RMI Harmonic and a PS 3300. Again, under the influence of both first and second generation of Berlin school musicians the LP will appeal to fans of Klaus Schulze or Tangerine Dream, but they will also find a big deal of Zanov's own personal sound on it, since as the musician himself reckons he had little contact with other peers of his generation, so besides a general love for the electronic gear used and the sounds you could make out of them the creative ideas behind his works were all his own. On his second album, a richer sound is found, not only due to the use of the new gear, since some of it's tracks where recorded using only his old EMS, but also due to his won experience after having taken his works to the life stages in the Golf Drouot boite, the Lase Olympia venue (on the basement of the famous Olympia), the Paris Planetarium or those for planned one month tour (of which in the end only four dates were accomplished). Zanov's three albums met with unanimous critical acclaim for the sound quality as well as for the originality of this very personal universe. WA-35612339|"╙ (formerly Eskimeaux) is the recording project of songwriter and producer Gabrielle Smith. In it's earliest days, the project was markedly experimental, the work of an artist with a knack for ambience and a fascination with sound. The next wave of material, most of what landed on 2011's Two Mountains, didn't quite read as a solo project anymore and represented a shift toward traditional song structures, albeit still happily atmospheric, nature-centered musings on how to find one's place in the world. Their live 7'' features two intimate yet momentous songs, ''Alone at the Party'' and ''Broken Necks'', both from 2015's O.K., the bedroom pop tour de force released on Double Double Whammy Records. ''Broken Necks'' is notably arresting as the first 40 seconds is a finger-picked invitation to the audience to join in singing the chorus, only to explode into full band ferocity with Smith's saccharine, solid vocals uniting naturally with her backing band, Oliver Kalb (synthesizer), Felix Walworth (drums), and Jack Greenleaf (bass). WA-35612322|"Viva L'American Death Ray Music began in 1999 as ''American Death Ray,'' the brainchild of Memphis garage scene stalwart Nicholas Ray. Since then, the project has twisted, turned and head-tripped nominally, to its current moniker, and sonically, from Velvets-influenced jams into an amalgam of truly exploratory punk, no wave, electronic and psychedelic rock music. This live 7'' will be their first music since their 2013 single, a 7'' split released by Memphis big wigs Goner Records. The tracks featured are ''The Painter'' and ''Falling'', both previously unreleased! A highlight is during the A-side, whose repetitive mantra ''I am the painter, not the paint'', channels a damaged, American Mark E. Smith, definitely for fans of his work. The B-sde showcases what could be an outtake from Alex Chilton's addled masterpiece ''Like Flies on Sherbet'', a barroom song if there ever was one. WA-35613978|"We're like a cherry tree in the garden that nobody can be bothered to scrump cos it has slightly undersized fruit which has not been standardised for a supermarket. But we're the real thing and the jays and the crows like us." Billy Childish - July 2017 Featuring alternate versions of two tracks from the band's recent Brand New Cage LP. Both versions are exclusive to this release. WA-35614203|History of Linkin Park: Tribute Album WA-35618942|Vinyl LP pressing. Imagine yourself standing of a cliff that like a pillar rises from the sea, imagine the wild storms that roars the ocean shores, imagine yourself swallowed by the great nordic waves of old. Here lies the solitary nest of Drengskapr - the second craft by the wayward and self-willed Swedish artist Panphage and the tale of Grette Asmundsson. Panphage who with his past releases has shown a rare way of interpreting Swedish folk music with a significantly wild and furious blackened metal. A unique force that will tell us to affirm the wilderness within us and release our inner walls in order to embrace the ways of the primitive past. WA-35909668|Double vinyl LP pressing. After the success of Heart of Thorns, ArenaNet again partnered to bring this epic and bold score by Maclaine Diemer with Wilbert Roget II, Brendon Williams, and Stan LePard, to vinyl. This dynamic two disc collection takes listeners on a sweeping journey, featuring heavy brass, soaring strings and driving percussion together to tell the tale of Balthazar's wrath and the heroes who aim to defeat him. From the wistfulness of the Crystal Desert to the themes of the Kingdom of Elona, the music is magically transporting. Close your eyes and see for yourself. WA-35633150|Double vinyl LP pressing. The soundtrack to Gang Beasts is a whomping, synthy, neon laser fantasy thrill/chill ride. Musically, it wobbles just like the gelatinous fighters in-game - vacillating between bass heavy, dance party bounty and electric rock riffs. When married with 4-player frenzy, it's motivating and energetic - a perfect compliment to the on-screen action. Blasting this record outside of gameplay, however, is an entirely new sensation designed to take full advantage of your living room speaker set up. You'll feel beat-drenched thumps in your chest, yet at the same time, be awash in a soothing trance of relaxation. To be clear: doseone & Bob Larder have crafted one of the coolest, sickest vibe-setting album experiences in gaming history. Period. WA-35637493|This much awaited recording offers keenly idiomatic performances of the most famous works by Grieg, played by the composerÆs own orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic, and its Chief Conductor, Edward Gardner. The drama and passion of such favourite pieces as the incidental music to Peer Gynt and the Piano Concerto are superbly captured in surround-sound with exemplary Chandos sound quality. Unlike most existing recordings, offering only the orchestral suites, this disc presents numerous extra excerpts from Peer Gynt, which follow the sequence of Henrik Ibsenæs dramatic poem, including sections for the unique Norwegian 'Hardanger FiddleÆ. Having collaborated with the orchestra on several occasions, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is the soloist in the Piano Concerto, a piece that stands out as a shining example of a single great thought captured and expressed in music. The power of this conception is evident throughout the concerto in the pianistÆs faithful, yet highly romantic interpretation. WA-35637509|The exploration by John Wilson of CoplandÆs major orchestral output with the BBC Philharmonic has now reached Volume 3, with this invigorating programme recorded in surround-sound. It opens with An Outdoor Overture, a cheerful and breezy piece which Copland composed in 1938, intending to spearhead an initiative encouraging æAmerican Music for American YouthÆ. Originally written for organ and orchestra, the First Symphony is presented here in its revised version (1926-28) for large orchestra. The six concise movements of Statements (1932-35) introduce a new style, their gritty soundscapes being stunning examples of what Copland later would refer to as æhard-bittenÆ pieces. The concluding work is the expressive, fantastical Dance Symphony (1929) which explores different styles of symphonic movements, its dark aura a residue of its origin as a ballet on a grotesque vampire theme, composed 1922-25 and named Grohg. The symphony has remained a highly controversial piece ever since. WA-35637264|In their acclaimed series of Ottorino RespighiÆs orchestral music, John Neschling and Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de LiΦge have transported listeners to destinations as diverse as Brazil and King SolomonÆs Jerusalem as well as giving a thrilling account of the composerÆs monumental Sinfonia drammatica û a score of epic proportions for a correspondingly large-scale orchestra. That performance earned a CriticÆs Choice in American Record Guide and an æEmpfehlungÆ on German website Klassik-Heute.de, and throughout the series Neschling and his team have received high praise for incisive interpretations and luxurious playing. The present release brings together three of RespighiÆs more popular works, besides the perennial Roman trilogy. Scored for small orchestra, his Botticellian Triptych has all the freshness of the famous paintings of the Renaissance master: Spring, Adoration of the Magi and Birth of Venus. Subtitled æpoemetto liricoÆ Il tramonto was originally composed for voice and string quartet, but is often performed with a larger complement of strings, as here. Soprano Anna Caterina Antonacci breathes impassioned life into ShelleyÆs Romantic poem The Sunset in which love is brutally cut short by death. The disc closes with the four Church Windows, three of which originated as piano preludes based on Gregorian themes. In 1925 Respighi composed a fourth companion piece, and recast the set as a suite for orchestra. Only then did he give titles to the movements, so that his lavishly orchestrated windows are in fact imaginary scenes, rather than any existing church windows. WA-35637332|Most of Johannes Sebastian BachÆs secular cantatas were written for specific political, academic or private festive occasions. In the case of Geschwinde, ihr wirbelnden Winde, BWV 201, however, it may well be that Bach composed it for his own sake: the message conveyed in the work can be interpreted as a defence of BachÆs own artistry and musical attitudes against the trend of the time towards easier fare. Subtitling the cantata ædramma per musicaÆ, Bach sets an episode from Greek mythology in which Phoebus (Apollo) and Pan enter into a musical contest. Phoebus, the god of the arts, presents a beautifully balanced and technically accomplished aria, while Pan sings a rustic dance tune. The judges offer Phoebus the prize, but the verdict isnÆt unanimous û King Midas prefers PanÆs catchy ditty, for which Phoebus punishes him by giving him donkey ears. On this amply-filled disc BachÆs praise of high art is followed by another tribute, now to Augustus III, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland. It is likely that Augustus never knew that the same music had been used 10 years earlier to congratulate a Leipzig academic on his promotion: Auf, schmetternde T÷neà BWV 207a is based almost entirely on Vereinigte Zwietracht der wechselnden Saiten, BWV 207. But Bach was something of the recyclerÆs recycler, and already BWV 207 included music from the First Brandenburg Concerto, with a choir added to the forces, and trumpets and timpani replacing the horns. WA-35637578|Chopin looked back and evoked for us the story of his life in 24 Preludes. Through the medium of these works he revealed his deepest fears and sorrows, but also the beauty and integrity of his heart. The story of these ghosts culminates in tolling bells which are, in CortotÆs words, ôof blood, of earthly pleasure, of deathàö But what follows? A pause: silence, timeless solitude, in the Etude Op. 10, No. 6. Then, suddenly, the soul wakes up and waltzes into space. The album ends with the Scherzo No. 2 ôlike a charnel house,ö or the house of the dead, as Chopin apparently described the opening- yet the finale sounds like a celebration of life. And so our ghostly journey ends with fireworks, with smiling and shining, looking far into the futureàö WA-35623366|The Raging Nathans from Dayton, Ohio channel their self-destruction and angst-ridden glory into another split 7
