Rick Wakeman

Rick Wakeman

Keyboard virtuoso Rick Wakeman has had a highly successful individual career alongside his on-again off-again membership of progressive rock giants Yes. Wakeman joined Yes in 1971 after a stint in The Strawbs and lots of work as a session player (including Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and Lou Reed’s debut LP). The caped keyboardist’s first two solo LPs—The Six Wives Of Henry VIII  and Journey To The Centre Of The Earth—were both hits and demonstrated the flair and grand theatrical vision of the composer/performer. Wakeman has also produced many highly regarded film soundtracks, including The Burning and Phantom of the Opera, as well as a series of solo piano albums in the New Age genre.
