Dancehall

Dancehall is said to have originated in the late 1970s in Jamaica when a singer named Sugar Minott went over some old 1960 instrumentals and laid down new vocals sparking the inspiration for the genre. The genre of music is extremely popular in Jamaica but has had some success worldwide. Dancehall sound is often described as being heavily instrumental with Jamaican Patois verses and a fast paced rhythm.
